Artist Statement

Annie Hetrick-Dahm is a 31-year-old Los Angeles-based designer and artist whose work bridges architecture and painting. By day, she works as an architectural designer, where precision and structure rule; by night, painting becomes her emotional release. Her art is marked by bold colours and a fascination with optical illusions, pulling viewers into a space where reality and imagination converge.
Inspired by surrealism, Annie challenges perceptions, encouraging viewers to dive deeper into her work's hidden narratives. Her pieces explore the intersection of architecture, nature, and human experience, creating a window into the emotional complexity of vulnerability and resilience.
Through this collection, Annie reflects on the female experience with both strength and sensitivity, building a dialogue between the built world and human emotion. Her goal is to inspire introspection and conversation while continuing to exhibit and seek residencies to share her evolving vision.
