The Nature-Spirit Riders have come out of the woods together after a long journey, and are cantering along in an easy harmony. Perhaps they represent something that we long to return to, and which still remains available for us to remember.
Nature-Spirit Rider XIII is cantering as if maybe having just cleared a log. The rider is sitting steadily despite the downward motion, and is looking around him as they travel.
Every time I encounter a horse I am amazed by the beauty of their integrity. I always feel moved, as if their honesty enables me to re-connect with that part of myself. Naturally, I default to making horses whenever I need to communicate this kind of feeling. My connection with horses feels like how this figure is riding, and I find it sustaining and replenishing. The rider’s antlers add to that sense of wisdom from the natural world.
The sculpture is made of made of a modern British eco-resin which allows me to reproduce the beautiful semi-translucent cream colour of the original wax into a durable form. The vibrant contemporary material brings a special resonance and allows for interesting glimpses through to the armature, or internal structure of the sculpture. It is for sale as a limited edition of 24, and is mounted on a semi-translucent, almost black, flat acrylic base. It is 19cm long, 17cm tall, and 7cm wide, including the base. The sculpture is initialled on the inside of the top of the horse’s left hind leg, and comes with a signed letter of authentication stating its edition number.

Artist Statement
Holly Bennett makes sculpture of people, animals and unusual creatures, which she uses as metaphors to tell an internal narrative. She works with great consideration, integrity and humour, and communicates through direct visual impact and shared emotive response. She creates sculpture that is exciting and moving, and which speaks to an audience who is interested in engaging with areas of deeper significance within our lives.
The original sculpture is modelled in wax and then cast as a limited edition into a vibrant British-made ecoresin, which creates an aesthetic that keeps the beautiful translucent qualities of the wax, while remaining accessible to a wide audience
