In her work, Jones Adler, transforms detritus from our world into images of femininity and otherworldly scenes. Her figures are innately feminine, with elements of our world interlaced amongst their form. In “Warrior Goddess,” Jones Adler imagines the face of strength and power as a woman. Her image is composited of photos of other women and elements from our day to day – highlighting the intrinsic strength within everyday people. She subverts the expectation of male strength or docile femininity, and instead expresses the power within woman. Artist Statement
“I am an artist because I have always loved the process of creating. My work is both personal and archetypical and seeks to memorialize a moment in time, the fragile nature of life, and the emotional impact of the past on the present. My portraits and dreamscapes pinpoint my unsettled view of the world with a subtle sense of amusement and innate feminism. I set out to create work that expresses the mythic and legendary. Magazines, photographs, and found materials become the story within the story, tying our world to the dreamscapes I create. Influenced by the Feminist Art Movement, Expressionism, and Dada movement, my collages reflect these inspirations.”
