Artist Statement

In my paintings, I embark on a journey to explore the overlooked and underappreciated aspects of contemporary objects and locations. I am captivated by the hidden beauty and significance found in the ordinary, everyday subjects that often go unnoticed. A recurring theme in my work revolves around the rural American landscape, which becomes a canvas for conveying a profound sense of quiet pathos. I am drawn to the emotions evoked by scenes of abandonment and decay, meticulously capturing the essence of rundown gas stations, lifeless general stores, weathered signage, and sprawling railroad yards.
