BIOGRAPHY

June Kat McCall received her BA in studio art from Bennington College. Informed by her background in portrait photography, her painted subject matter primarily consists of loved ones and friends in varied restaurant settings. Each portrait explores a unique and specific color palette used to reflect the personality of the subject. June paints with a slight impressionist stylization so as to preserve the nostalgic, emotional aspect of the scenes, which are all linked to snapshot memories. She has always been interested in the practice of portraiture and its intrinsic challenge: how to accurately represent an entire, three-dimensional, and complex person within a single piece. June lives and works in Los Angeles.
