The artwork titled 'Uprising' by John Waski is an abstract painting rich in texture and depth, utilizing a dramatic interplay of colors and forms to convey a sense of movement and emotion. The piece features a dark, predominantly brown and black palette that suggests an earthy, organic quality, with a central area of rust or burnt orange that serves as a vibrant focal point. The orange area appears almost like a glowing ember, a source of light and heat amidst the surrounding darkness.
The surface of the painting is highly textured, with visible brushstrokes, scratches, and layered applications of paint that add a tactile dimension to the work. This texture contributes to the overall sense of turmoil and intensity that the title 'Uprising' implies.
Throughout the canvas, there are sporadic hints of contrasting colors, such as blues and whites, which break through the darker tones, creating a visual effect reminiscent of sparks or flashes in the night. These highlights may represent the unpredictable nature of an uprising, with moments of clarity or illumination breaking through a chaotic backdrop.
The abstract nature of the work allows for multiple interpretations, with the title guiding the viewer towards themes of revolt, transformation, or powerful natural phenomena. The composition is dynamic, and the viewer's eye is drawn across and into the depths of the canvas, as if searching for meaning within the complexity of the painted surface.
Overall, 'Uprising' is an evocative piece that emphasizes mood and atmosphere, inviting an emotional and contemplative response from the viewer. The artwork stands as a testament to the expressive potential of abstract art to communicate profound narratives without representational forms.

Artists Statement: “My artistic vision taps into the raw emotion of the human experience, defining the spiritual, naturally occurring and man-made forces that surround us. Drawing upon the combinations of these elements creates solid narrative to express my unique interpretation of life today. I derive inspiration from various forms of mythology, observing people and nature, which is used as a catalyst in developing a body of work. The art attempts to capture a state of being by fusing abstract and representational elements together for a new visual language. Overlaying multiple forms and color I want to create a visual stratigraphic exploration of the subject matter, by building surfaces and layers to expose a sense of time and multi dimensional narratives. Having this dialogue offers a unique commentary exposing the venerability of our relationships with each other and the environment, attempting to achieve a balance of ambiguity and tension within the space that captures a fleeting moment in time. These components of the work manifest through the exploration of evolution and change. With the utilization of selective icons, textures and the human form, I share my perceptive awareness through my art.”
