John was born and raised on the east end of Long Island, NY, an area that influenced his artistic growth through its natural settings and idyllic lighting. He received a B.F.A. from the Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduation, John moved to New York City to pursue a career in art and design, where he continued his studies at the Arts Students League, and developed a love for the human form. John Waski works in a variety of disciplines and mediums, including Oil, Acrylic, Enamel, Ink, Pastels, Sculpture and Mixed Media. He has also created sight-specific work dealing with the effects of man on our environment and communities. He uses his art as a vessel to portray the many facets of the human condition, by drawing upon the raw energy of the relationships between the spiritual, naturally occurring, and man-made forces. He and his wife currently reside in Westport, CT, a coastal suburb situated outside New York City. Together they founded Waski Design llc, a Strategic Brand Identity Design firm, that has serviced national and global clientele for almost 25 years.  John currently pursues his fine art career full time. His work has been shown in numerous group exhibits and is also in private collections.

Artists Statement: “My artistic vision taps into the raw emotion of the human experience, defining the spiritual, naturally occurring and man-made forces that surround us. Drawing upon the combinations of these elements creates solid narrative to express my unique interpretation of life today. I derive inspiration from various forms of mythology, observing people and nature, which is used as a catalyst in developing a body of work. The art attempts to capture a state of being by fusing abstract and representational elements together for a new visual language. Overlaying multiple forms and color I want to create a visual stratigraphic exploration of the subject matter, by building surfaces and layers to expose a sense of time and multi dimensional narratives. Having this dialogue offers a unique commentary exposing the venerability of our relationships with each other and the environment, attempting to achieve a balance of ambiguity and tension within the space that captures a fleeting moment in time. These components of the work manifest through the exploration of evolution and change. With the utilization of selective icons, textures and the human form, I share my perceptive awareness through my art.”
