Artist Biography

Teresa Berger is an interdisciplinary artist born in Vienna, Austria. Her passion for art and design began with studies in textile art and graphic design, eventually leading her to graduate from the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 2018.

Following her graduation, Teresa gained valuable experience working with international design studios before founding her own studio in early 2019. From her Vienna-based practice, she continues to explore the intersection of art, design, and material innovation.

Artist Statement

Teresa Berger is an interdisciplinary designer specialising in clay, crafting objects that seamlessly bridge art and design. Her work blends abstraction with functionality, resulting in sculptural stoneware pieces exploring ceramic surfaces' tactile language. Through a harmonious interplay of form, texture, and colour, her creations invite visual appreciation and physical engagement, encouraging a deeper connection between the object and the beholder.

A defining aspect of Teresa’s practice is her dedication to material experimentation. She develops all her glazes independently, undertaking extensive testing to achieve distinctive finishes that elevate her work. For Teresa, each glaze and surface represents a narrative – a reflection of her commitment to craftsmanship and an exploration of human connection.

Through her work, Teresa Berger challenges the traditional boundaries of ceramics, pushing the material to convey new meanings and perspectives. Each piece serves as an invitation to see, touch, and connect, offering a renewed understanding of the possibilities inherent in form and materiality within contemporary art.
