The painting titled 'Paradox' by John Waski is an abstract work that conveys a sense of dynamic energy through its vigorous use of color and form. The canvas is dominated by a swirling vortex of orange and green hues, which are vivid and arresting against the more subdued background. This central form is reminiscent of a flame or a twisting organic shape, giving the impression of movement and transformation.
The background features deep purples and blues, creating a stark contrast with the warmth of the orange and yellows. This juxtaposition of warm and cool colors adds to the visual tension within the piece, suggesting a thematic and visual paradox, as indicated by the title.
There is a rich textural quality to the work; the paint is applied in a manner that allows for thick, impasto strokes, as well as more diluted, washy areas. These variations in texture contribute to the overall sense of depth and complexity, inviting the viewer to look closer and explore the intricacies of the surface.
The composition seems to be spontaneous and expressive, with the artist possibly employing gestural brushwork to capture an immediacy of emotion and energy. Despite the abstract nature, one might discern a sense of conflict or confluence, as the elements within the painting vie for attention and coexistence.
'Paradox' by John Waski is a thought-provoking piece that engages with the principles of abstraction to explore complex emotional states or ideas, leaving much to interpretation by the viewer. It stands as a testament to the power of abstract art to evoke feelings and thoughts that may be difficult to articulate with words.

Artists Statement: “My artistic vision taps into the raw emotion of the human experience, defining the spiritual, naturally occurring and man-made forces that surround us. Drawing upon the combinations of these elements creates solid narrative to express my unique interpretation of life today. I derive inspiration from various forms of mythology, observing people and nature, which is used as a catalyst in developing a body of work. The art attempts to capture a state of being by fusing abstract and representational elements together for a new visual language. Overlaying multiple forms and color I want to create a visual stratigraphic exploration of the subject matter, by building surfaces and layers to expose a sense of time and multi dimensional narratives. Having this dialogue offers a unique commentary exposing the venerability of our relationships with each other and the environment, attempting to achieve a balance of ambiguity and tension within the space that captures a fleeting moment in time. These components of the work manifest through the exploration of evolution and change. With the utilization of selective icons, textures and the human form, I share my perceptive awareness through my art.”
