BIOGRAPHY
Yigsy Magaly is a Salvadoran-American artist who discovered her passion for art through photorealistic portraiture. However, after the evolution of her style, she embraced a minimalistic aesthetic aimed at challenging artistic norms.
In her "Blanxs" series, Yigsy deliberately omits facial expressions, allowing the canvas to become a window into the most vulnerable realms of human emotion—states often shielded from others. These emotional battles, shared by all, remain unspoken, creating a silent yet powerful narrative. Her focus on the expressive potential of lines and colors emphasizes the significance of body language, presenting a distinctive and immersive experience for the audience.
A graduate of Mason Gross School of the Arts, Yigsy employs paint markers instead of traditional brushes, creating a captivating 3D effect that extends beyond the canvas. Her innovative approach invites viewers to connect with their emotions through the delicate interplay of lines and colors.
