Artist Biography

Michelle Jacobson is a contemporary artist based in Sonoma County, Northern California. Born in Los Angeles, she is known for her expressive and evocative landscapes created in oil paint and oil pastel. Her work captures the fleeting beauty of nature—exploring light, color, and texture with a focus on both expansive vistas and intimate, quiet moments in the natural world.

Influenced by the diverse landscapes of California, Michelle’s paintings evoke a deep connection to place, whether portraying coastal scenes or tranquil hillsides. She works primarily in oil paint for its richness and depth, while also using oil pastels for their vibrant, tactile quality. Through her thoughtful use of medium and composition, Michelle invites viewers to experience the emotional essence of the landscape.

Her work has been exhibited across California and is held in private and corporate collections. When not in the studio, Michelle enjoys hiking and exploring the natural beauty that continues to inspire her art.

Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of the emotional depth and beauty found in nature, particularly along California’s coast. Inspired by the ever-changing ocean and its surrounding landscapes, I capture the fleeting moments of light, color, and texture that define these environments.

Using oil paint and oil pastel, I seek to evoke the moods and energy of the ocean—its serenity, power, and mystery. Whether depicting expansive seascapes or intimate coastal scenes, my aim is to create a sense of connection with both the land and the viewer, inviting reflection on the quiet beauty of the natural world.
