Antonius, originally from Indonesia, initially learned under well-known Indonesian artist Barli. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bandung, Indonesia in 1982, he pursued further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cologne, Germany, specializing in glass painting and textile arts. In 1989, he was awarded the 1st prize at the "Malen auf Liegestuehlen" competition held at Olivandenhof in Cologne, Germany, and in 1998, he once again won the 1st prize at the "Mask in Venice" event, part of the Art Addiction Annual in Venice, Italy. With his extensive international art experiences, spanning from 1984 to 2020, he held a total of 33 solo exhibitions in countries including Indonesia, India, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Finland, the USA, Vietnam, South Korea, and China. Additionally, from 2005 to 2020, he participated in 114 group exhibitions worldwide, including countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, the UAE, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, the USA, Canada, Egypt, Ecuador, Argentina, Panama, Peru, Mexico, Uruguay, Myanmar, China, Macau, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal. Some of these exhibitions were organized by national museums, galleries, and renowned art organizations such as Art Basel and the Saatchi Gallery. It comes as no surprise that Antonius's artworks have been collected by reputable museums, galleries, and art foundations worldwide, as well as by private collectors. Antonius himself is actively involved in the art scene, frequently organizing art exchange projects among fellow artists.

 Artist statement

My works are mosaics of art and culture from my country, which is a variety of arts, cultures and languages, is a synthesis between east and west. Which is my art education background in Germany, at FH-Cologne Art Academy, majoring in glass paintings and textile art-tapestry, therefore my works is a synthesis of mosaic and textile art. A particular theme in my work is people, from the past until now, with various technique in my works. I use mixed medium, acrylic colors, collages such as jute, rope, modeling paste and transparent paper. It looks like 3-dimensional, because I like cubism, apart from painting I also like to make sculptures. The subjects in my works are mostly about the mosaic of my life, the people around my life, I work with various phases, like circulation of my life.
