Green Tara extends her compassionate embrace to all beings, offering solace and protection, and guiding them on a path from suffering to spiritual liberation.
Green Tara, a compassionate deity, embodies a nurturing presence always ready to offer comfort and shield against physical, mental, and spiritual suffering. Recognized as the mother of all Buddhas, Tara holds the role of a bodhisattva, dedicating her existence to alleviating the suffering of all sentient beings. The vibrant green color adorning her signifies the awakening of Buddha nature within every being. With a gentle, smiling countenance, she gazes upon all sentient beings with a mother's affection, empowering and eagerly assisting in removing obstacles and accomplishing activities related to Buddha Teachings.
In her right hand, Tara delicately holds the utpala flower, symbolizing purity and realization. Similarly, on her left-hand side, another utpala flower is cradled. The union of two fingers touching signifies the harmony of great compassion and wisdom, while the three upright fingers on her left hand represent taking refuge in the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. With her right foot gracefully extended, Tara remains ever-ready to stand up and aid sentient beings in relieving their sufferings. According to Buddhist tradition, Tara's origin traces back to a tear shed by Avalokiteshvara, another Bodhisattva, emphasizing her embodiment of compassion for all beings.
