The mixed media canvas titled "Getaway Driver" by Eddie McClure is an atmospheric piece that conveys a sense of motion and escape through its abstract language. The dominant use of deep, inky blues against the paler, almost ghostly whites and grays evokes a feeling of night or twilight, suggesting the covert nature of a getaway under the cover of darkness. The composition is balanced yet dynamic, with the interplay of light and dark areas creating depth and a sense of spatial ambiguity.
Strategic strokes and washes of color give the impression of speed and direction, embodying the essence of a driver in swift motion. The darker central forms, which dominate the canvas, could be interpreted as the vehicle itself—a nebulous presence racing through a less defined, perhaps urban, landscape. There are hints of orange and lighter hues at the canvas's edges, possibly reflecting streetlights or the last touches of sunset, providing a subtle warmth to the cool palette and enhancing the painting's depth.
The textural contrast between the different media utilized by McClure adds to the urgency and rawness of the scene. The bold, confident brushwork and the occasional drips and splatters contribute to the narrative of haste and the frenetic energy associated with a getaway.
In "Getaway Driver," there is an intriguing tension between the depicted motion and the static nature of the canvas. McClure's work seems to capture a fleeting moment, an adrenaline-fueled episode, frozen in time through his abstract representation, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the narrative evoked by the painting's title and visual impact.

BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Eddie McClure, I am based on the gulf coast of Florida, and I do my best to participate in creation. “Self taught” with formal experience, I’ve spent the past 2 decades either working in creative fields or holding a close personal creative expression as a passion. Over the years I’ve found painting to be a place of repose and the most accurate medium to convey and share my multi-sensory experience as well personal commentaries.
Artist Statement: I look to create paintings that are eclectic, colorful, and inspiring. utilizing rhythmic markings, obstructed patterns, vintage ephemera, and transparent mediums to bring subjectivity into visual form. I hope to invoke introspection and personal reflection in the people that see my works. A doorway for them to lead themselves instead of me saying where they should go.
