Biography

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, David Abelson graduated from Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto) in 1980. He received the Greenshields grant to study at the Paris American Academy in Paris, France, in 1981. In 1984, he was awarded the Canadian/Scandinavian grant to paint on Gotland, Sweden, where the Forsnal Museum in Visby acquired one of his paintings. David has participated in the World Wood Festival (sculpture) at the Long Beach Convention Center in Los Angeles in 2017 and exhibited works in over a dozen galleries in New York, Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.

Artist Statement

David's works are a rich blend of colors akin to expressionism, depicting dreams, magical fantasies, and a timeless quality. His collages feature overlapping worlds swirling into one.
