In this artwork, I aim to capture the profound impact of the Islamic revolution of 1979 on Iranian society, particularly on women. The revolution brought sweeping changes, imposing strict regulations that drastically curtailed women's rights and freedoms. These restrictions extended to all aspects of their lives, from dictating their behavior to enforcing stringent dress codes, limiting their autonomy and participation in public life.
The upheaval caused by these changes left countless lives disrupted, with women facing the challenge of navigating a society transformed by ideological imperatives. Despite the bright color palette, the image reflects a sense of brokenness and shattered dreams.
At the center of the painting stands a Persian woman, reminiscent of figures in ancient Persian miniatures. She holds a glass of wine in a beautiful Persian garden, surrounded by the tranquil blues of the sky. Yet, amidst the vibrant patterns, art, and poetry, her heritage and well-being have been disrupted, her dreams shattered by the impact of the Islamic revolution.
