The artwork titled 'Confined Spaces' by Eddie McClure is an abstract painting that employs a vivid and dynamic array of block-like forms to create a visually striking composition. The painting is characterized by a series of vertical and horizontal rectangular shapes that simulate the crowded and stacked appearance of an urban skyline or densely constructed buildings.
McClure uses a bold and saturated palette, with the rectangles painted in primary and secondary colors such as red, blue, purple, yellow, and orange. These colors are juxtaposed against each other and outlined with thick, black lines that add definition and a sense of separation between the forms. The intense hues create a sense of vibrancy and energy, while the black outlines contribute to the feeling of containment and delineation, echoing the painting's title 'Confined Spaces.'
The background is a flat expanse of sky blue, which provides a stark contrast to the warm, intense colors of the geometric shapes. This use of negative space emphasizes the crowded composition of the forms and enhances the sense of confinement within the painting.
The painting's surface appears to be textured with visible brushwork, and there are additional scribbled lines that overlay the blocks, lending a sense of chaos and complexity to the composition. These elements may suggest the frenetic energy of city life or the intricate layers of experience within confined urban spaces.
Overall, the painting is a vibrant, abstract representation that explores themes of density, urbanism, and the human experience within the built environment. It invites the viewer to consider the emotional and psychological impacts of living in close quarters and the beauty that can be found within the repetition and variation of architectural forms.

BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Eddie McClure, I am based on the gulf coast of Florida, and I do my best to participate in creation. “Self taught” with formal experience, I’ve spent the past 2 decades either working in creative fields or holding a close personal creative expression as a passion. Over the years I’ve found painting to be a place of repose and the most accurate medium to convey and share my multi-sensory experience as well personal commentaries.
Artist Statement: I look to create paintings that are eclectic, colorful, and inspiring. utilizing rhythmic markings, obstructed patterns, vintage ephemera, and transparent mediums to bring subjectivity into visual form. I hope to invoke introspection and personal reflection in the people that see my works. A doorway for them to lead themselves instead of me saying where they should go.
