McClure's palette is eclectic and bold, with a background that features bright greens, yellows, and blues, creating a lively and intense visual field. Over this multicolored backdrop, there are layers of graffiti-like scribbles, symbols, and gestural marks in contrasting colors like red, pink, black, and white. These elements give the piece a sense of depth and complexity, as though each layer represents a different voice or element of the urban landscape.
Some of the marks and symbols have the appearance of being hastily executed, reminiscent of street art, giving the painting an edgy, contemporary feel. In contrast, other areas of the canvas show more controlled geometric patterns and stenciled designs that add a sense of order to the chaos.
Drips of paint run down the canvas, suggesting the effect of gravity and the fluidity of the medium, as well as adding to the overall raw and unfinished aesthetic of the work. These drips create a vertical rhythm that guides the eye from the top to the bottom of the canvas.
The title 'Cloth Low On The Mast' may evoke nautical imagery or suggest a sense of surrender or fatigue, which could be metaphorically linked to the painting's appearance. Perhaps it references a flag or banner that is no longer waving proudly but is instead hanging down, weighed by circumstance or defeat.
Overall, this piece by Eddie McClure is a rich tapestry of urban-inspired motifs and abstract expressionism that captures a moment of raw, unfiltered emotion. The painting is an invitation to explore the interplay between chaos and control, between the vibrant life of the streets and the personal narrative of the artist.

BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Eddie McClure, I am based on the gulf coast of Florida, and I do my best to participate in creation. “Self taught” with formal experience, I’ve spent the past 2 decades either working in creative fields or holding a close personal creative expression as a passion. Over the years I’ve found painting to be a place of repose and the most accurate medium to convey and share my multi-sensory experience as well personal commentaries.
Artist Statement: I look to create paintings that are eclectic, colorful, and inspiring. utilizing rhythmic markings, obstructed patterns, vintage ephemera, and transparent mediums to bring subjectivity into visual form. I hope to invoke introspection and personal reflection in the people that see my works. A doorway for them to lead themselves instead of me saying where they should go.
