BIOGRAPHY
Jerry Blank’s main body of work features paintings depicting Western life, the Southwest, the desert, the rodeo, the cowboy, and Western movie tributes. His past work includes jazz legends, rock and roll giants, sports greats, and celebrated stars of the entertainment world. Additionally, Jerry has an extensive suite of paintings celebrating European and American cityscapes and landscapes. His works are known for being bold, loose, vibrant, and impressionistic.
Jerry spent most of his early career as a graphic designer and art director in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2000, he moved to Paris to paint, travel, speak French, and drink a little wine. Returning with fifty-one paintings after a year, his fine art career was launched. Now in full stride, the journey continues.
Artist Statement
I love impressionism. I love a painting that looks finished, with details and full of motion, but when we look at it closely, what we see are just a bunch of loose brushstrokes that sometimes look like an abstract. That’s how I paint. With a lot of texture and color, I’ve found a style that works for any subject or genre that I choose to capture on canvas.
