"Cellmates" by Eddie McClure is a thought-provoking piece created with mixed media on canvas that employs an abstract and minimalist approach. The artwork is dominated by a calming, monochromatic palette of blues, ranging from cerulean to the deep tones of indigo, invoking a sense of depth and serenity. The title suggests a theme of companionship or confinement, which may be abstractly represented in the two prominent vertical white forms that stand out against the blue background. These forms, reminiscent of bars or narrow windows, are positioned parallel to each other, creating a visual dialogue between them.
The surface treatment is rich with textural variation, with areas where the paint appears to have been applied thickly, then partially scraped or washed away, producing a sense of historical layering and erosion over time. Drips and streaks emanate from the white forms, suggesting movement or a passage of time, and perhaps symbolizing communication or interaction between the 'cellmates.'
Abstract scribbles and marks in a darker hue sporadically dance across the canvas, adding a layer of complexity and suggesting a form of coded language or internal thought processes. These marks could be read as a metaphor for the interactions between individuals or elements confined together, each with its own distinct voice or story.
Overall, "Cellmates" invites contemplation, with its evocative colors and forms that may speak to themes of isolation, connection, and the human condition. The piece is characteristic of abstract expressionism, where the emotional content is conveyed through powerful visual elements rather than representational forms.

BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Eddie McClure, I am based on the gulf coast of Florida, and I do my best to participate in creation. “Self taught” with formal experience, I’ve spent the past 2 decades either working in creative fields or holding a close personal creative expression as a passion. Over the years I’ve found painting to be a place of repose and the most accurate medium to convey and share my multi-sensory experience as well personal commentaries.
Artist Statement: I look to create paintings that are eclectic, colorful, and inspiring. utilizing rhythmic markings, obstructed patterns, vintage ephemera, and transparent mediums to bring subjectivity into visual form. I hope to invoke introspection and personal reflection in the people that see my works. A doorway for them to lead themselves instead of me saying where they should go.
