"Capitulation" by Eddie McClure is a striking mixed media work on canvas that showcases a rich tapestry of color, form, and texture. The wide-format piece is a visual narrative of surrender, depicted through an abstract lens. A vivid array of colors, including deep purples, vibrant blues, and touches of orange and yellow, creates a dynamic and emotionally charged atmosphere.
The layering of paint and possibly other materials adds a tactile dimension to the canvas, with areas that seem to recede and others that protrude, giving the impression of a landscape of emotions. The surface exhibits a variety of treatments, from thick impasto to thin glazes, contributing to the visual complexity and depth of the piece.
Amidst the chaos of color and form, there are elements that suggest structure, such as grid-like patterns or faintly discernible shapes, which could represent the remnants of order or the last vestiges of resistance before capitulation. The inclusion of what appears to be textual or symbolic script, including reversed or inverted characters, adds a cryptic layer, hinting at communication or a hidden message within the surrender.
The title "Capitulation" implies a thematic exploration of giving in or relinquishing control, which is reflected in the composition's fluidity and the intermingling of elements without clear boundaries. This piece is an excellent example of how abstract expressionism can evoke complex emotional states, inviting the viewer to interpret the work through their own lens of experiences and feelings.

BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Eddie McClure, I am based on the gulf coast of Florida, and I do my best to participate in creation. “Self taught” with formal experience, I’ve spent the past 2 decades either working in creative fields or holding a close personal creative expression as a passion. Over the years I’ve found painting to be a place of repose and the most accurate medium to convey and share my multi-sensory experience as well personal commentaries.
Artist Statement: I look to create paintings that are eclectic, colorful, and inspiring. utilizing rhythmic markings, obstructed patterns, vintage ephemera, and transparent mediums to bring subjectivity into visual form. I hope to invoke introspection and personal reflection in the people that see my works. A doorway for them to lead themselves instead of me saying where they should go.
