Description

When people come to see my pictures and we meet on exhibition openings I receive many times the question, what kind of things do inspire me to make a picture? I have got a new picture as an answer to this question showing how stamps can inspire me.

The process of creation started with sorting the stamps. I received many colourful Italian stamps which I new already as I made my picture Taormina as I see it using the same stamps. The sorting was followed by the research work. We looked up this stamp at first in the online stamp catalogue Colnect and found out that the title of this series was Coin of Syracuse (1953 – 1965). Curiosity in us and our desire for knowledge heeled us and finally we found the coin which inspired the issuing of these stamps in Italy. The coin featured Artemis, Greek god of hunting. Learning this fact, I decided to use also a nice Hungarian series issued in 1971 titled Hunting and fishing. This research was followed by finalising the design, glueing the stamps and finding also the best frame for the picture.

Artist Biography

I have been working as an economist in the second largest Hungarian city Debrecen for 35 years already.

I created my first picture in 2015, at that time merely to entertain myself. Devising these pictures brought me not only tranquillity, but the unparalleled joy of creating something unique. From a mere hobby painting with stamps turned into passion. The definition of my art was given by the known Hungarian art collector, owner of the Antal-Lusztig Collection Mr. Peter Antal. Should we look into it deeper we can see that my technique is a mix, a bit of mosaic, a bit of collage and a bit of montage. In one-word MoCoMo Art by Stamps. I am proud for it as I have worked it out developing it from one piece to the another.

I use special material as the stamps are miniature pieces of art themselves having their own message. With the use of them I create new value when I try to outline my own thoughts.

I have participated for the years in a number of exhibitions while some of my pictures found their place in significant art collections and public buildings.
