BIOGRAPHY
Uzony (b. 1963) grew up in Debrecen, Hungary, where he continues to live and work. He graduated from the University of Debrecen, specializing in the history of art, having studied under the renowned artist Árpád Bényi. He received his degree in 1988. He studied painting technique with the French artist Gilbert Lupfer. He won First Prize at the inter-university painting contest of 1988. Soon he held his own exhibitions in Hamburg, Karlsruhe, and Langenbach. He took part in study trips to Paris, Milan, and Prague, as a result of which the works of impressionist painters became a major influence on his paintings. He has held more than 30 of his own exhibitions in the past two decades, and his paintings have been bought by several collectors from Japan to the USA. In 2013, Uzony won the gold medal in the West East Gallery (Canada). In recent years, he discovered the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. He studied the natural forms of the world of fractals, which inspired the birth of his abstract paintings. In the last 10 years, he has gradually turned to abstract thinking, especially the abstract representation of nature. With his abstract paintings, Uzony has achieved great success at the exhibitions of the Paris Salon three times, winning the special prize of the jury in 2017, and exhibiting again in 2018 and 2022.
Artist Statement
My paintings begin with a mark… a drawn line. From the line, the painting grows. My primary goal when creating my abstracts is to breathe life into what I do. Every day I get out, explore the world, and other forms of art for inspiration. I think this balance helps to keep my creative energy fresh and exciting. This relates to new ideas and the ability to stay excited about what I do every day. As you can tell by my work, I like to create living emotion in my paintings, like a great song that gives you goosebumps. My wish is to make you want to keep coming back for more so that you may explore your own spirit, inspire who you are and what you are and what you want to become in this lifetime.
