Artist Statement
Twenty years ago (as a freshman at Denison University), I took a course entitled “Contemporary Comics” that greatly inspired me. My relationship to comics is seen through my work in its narrative component and “toon” style. As an artist, I see myself as a visual storyteller. In my work I examine masculinity and the growing up process from boyhood to adulthood. My work reflects my experiences and interactions with the world around me- including popular culture, humor, history, society and literature- filtered through the prism of my experiences.
