Stephen Barber

Stephen Barber is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a sculptor and painter with a BFA from Wayne State University in Detroit and an MFA from Pratt University in New York. After retiring from a career in Information Technology, he resumed his artistic pursuits. He is a member of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists and has frequently exhibited there, as well as in other New York and Texas shows and online exhibitions.

Artist Statement

My passion for the environment is the basis for my work. The paintings are often based on photos taken while hiking, and my recent sculptures are crafted from fallen branches. The work captures small moments of awareness of the natural world, which are becoming increasingly rare in modern life.
