BIOGRAPHY
Rafael Adorján is an artist, photographer, and teacher in the public school system of Rio de Janeiro. He holds a Master's in Contemporary Art and Culture from the Graduate Program in Arts and a degree in Art Education with a qualification in Art History from UERJ. His works are part of institutional collections in Brazil, including MAM Rio, MAR, IPHAN, the Joaquim Paiva Photography Collection, and the Diário Contemporâneo de Fotografia Collection. Adorján has held five solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2021, he was part of the Expresso Educação: Professor Pesquisador Residence by MAM Rio and was nominated for the PIPA Prize in 2018. He has published three photography books and lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
Artist Statement
My artistic research focuses on experimentation in the field of image through series and publications such as photobooks. These narratives are created from immersive journeys in specific places, inspired by elements of everyday life and mass culture.
