Ogheneruemu J. Arueya
Ogheneruemu Arueya was born in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, and hails from Ughella North Local Government in Delta State. His educational journey began in Lagos, where he completed his primary and secondary education. Arueya's
passion for art was evident early on, leading him to apprentice at a local art studio where he honed his skills and learned the foundational tricks of the trade. Pursuing his passion further, Arueya studied General Arts at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State, Nigeria.
This experience was pivotal in shaping his artistic identity, culminating in his graduation with a Higher Diploma in Fine Arts, specializing in Painting. Over the past decade, Arueya's unique artistic voice has flourished, attracting the attention of high-profile collectors both locally and internationally.
Arueya has showcased his talent through numerous group exhibitions and art auctions across Nigeria, the US, and the UK Notable events include Marcel's Attic Art Auction (UK), SOGAL Art Auction (Nigeria), Terra Kulture, Mydrim Auction House (Nigeria), and Chinwe Russell Auction (US). He has three solo exhibitions to his credit, one sponsored by Guaranty Trust Bank at Oasis Lounge, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos; "MAGIC," powered by AMG Projects/Artsy; and "Pushing Limits" at Stryx Gallery, Birmingham, UK.
In addition to his exhibitions, Arueya participated in a two-month artist residency at Kunst Ayl Art Residemz in Quedlinburg, Germany. His consistent and expressive artistic journey has established his presence in the art world and beyond. His work has been featured by Otto Gallery (US) and used in a
Sterling Bank advertisement celebrating culture and creativity.
Moreover, he was among the select artists invited by Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to contribute ideas for enhancing the city's aesthetics.
