Miriam Prinz is an Austrian artist and teacher born in 1997. She gained her experience with art at the HBLA for artistic design in Linz. In addition to her abstract works, she has also illustrated a children's book.
She was born and raised in a small town surrounded by lush nature and alpine scenery. However, she has always felt drawn to the sea and its special atmosphere, which she tries to reflect in her works.
The paintings in her latest collection were previously part of a private art exhibition.
Artist Statement
Just like the meandering of water, my painting technique sometimes produces random shapes and colors, but in the end, they follow a logic and their own destiny. My artwork allows me to capture the ephemeral moments from the ocean and preserve them in my home as a memento. My artworks invite you to lose yourself in them. In multiple layers, which are cast with epoxy resin and poured with acrylic paints and alcohol inks, the maritime landscape tells its own story. Each time you look at it, you discover something new: a river? A spot? A reef? I love creating these fluid images.
The way I make my art ensures that each piece is truly unique: First, I create a rough landscape on a hardboard panel, which determines the structure. Then I pour the colors. This is followed by a layer of epoxy resin. Details are then added with acrylic paints. Depending on the painting, this results in up to three layers of resin, which create a unique water-like depth effect. In the end the surface sometimes is calm, like a lake. For others, perhaps the tip of a rock stands out.
