Meg Kaizu is an artist, writer, and educator. She has published her poetry, fiction, essays, reviews and translation in journals and anthologies, and exhibited her artwork internationally. Having studied art at the University of Oregon and Russian at Moscow State University, she obtained a Master’s degree in philosophy with Certificate in Philosophy of Art, from the CUNY Graduate Center. She is the recipient of the IAP fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Red Dot Award from the Art Students League of New York.
Artist Statement
With her interests in space, gesture, and movement, Kaizu experiments with symbolism, line quality, color theory, abstraction, representation and subjectivity. Fascinated by various materials and techniques, she has explored oil, watercolor, book arts, photohgraphy, calligraphy, pressed flower art and collage, interpreting various artistic traditions and craft elements for creative possibilities. Her artwork has appeared in publications and has been exhibited internationally.
