Artist Statement

Painting is the purest joy I have ever had, for myself, in my whole life.

Given that I am nearing half a century, here, in the middle bit between birth and death, I feel I have learned enough about what being human is and how that has affected my own experience, to know when something is really good. Painting is that thing for me.

Paintings happen fast - they start and finish in one time period. I love this aspect of what I do because it's like being a kid again, where my drawing and painting happened all at once and I would just be going for it, lost in doing it.
