Artist Statement
My hope is that my viewer will feel the overwhelming presence of love that I feel in myself when I am in flow with my colors and canvas. I feel my life purpose is to create pathways to the unseen magic that dwells within all of us. I believe that when artists create in this state of flow, the artist gifts this deep connection to source.
The chosen medium invites a state of flow through sound, word, or visual focus. I believe this is a pure state of being that we all share. In a very real way , I believe art brings us together in this most magical and loving community. I feel my life purpose is to create pathways to the unseen magic that dwells within all of us. I paint with oil paint on linen canvas. The sophistication of the notes of pigment make it possible for me to express the exquisite color relationships that I relish. The smell and texture of Belgium linen feel decadent as a surface. This sets the stage for what feels like to me a decadent swim in light.
I paint portraits and landscapes. I choose visual moments that overwhelm with beauty. I visually lean into my heart swelling and strive to uncover and share that experience. Portraits are set up to express the secret of their presence. Everyone has a feel just as every moment has a particular feel. Portraits add another dimension. I participate in experiencing them as the beloved. I have often cried while feeling a deep intimacy with my subject. No-one can hide from the artist gaze. It’s all love.
