Karin Batten was born in Hamburg, Germany, and pursued her artistic education at Central Saint Martins College in London, England, where she studied painting and sculpture, earning a BFA. She furthered her studies by obtaining an MFA from Hunter College (CUNY) in New York City. Karin's career includes teaching drawing and design at Parsons School of Design in NYC from 1974 to 1986. Her recent works are luminous abstract improvisations reflecting her lifelong fascination with the natural world. Residing at the Westbeth artist housing community in New York City, she served as the Westbeth Gallery Director and curator from 2016 to 2019. Her art has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe and is represented by the June Kelly Gallery in New York City. Karin's work is included in permanent collections at prestigious institutions such as the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, the Whitney Museum, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
