Andru Fijalkowski was born in a small town where coal mining was the primary industry. His early inspiration came from an abundance of wood off-cuts, which he used to create sculptures. This, along with his discovery of African Art at 15, set him on a path that has taken him to various places, both physically and mentally. Andru has spent years studying the human form, first with clay, then wood, and later stone. His art has taken him from Cape Town to Dundee, always in search of new materials or starting a new series. Over the years, Andru has exhibited his work internationally, preferring to set up exhibitions in unconventional spaces like empty shops during the Edinburgh festivals. His recent involvement in the Cash is King exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea is among his many adventures. Andru's artistic journey is deeply personal, driven by a desire to express stories through his art.
