Robert Melzmuf was born in Middletown, Connecticut, in 1960 and pursued his education at the Hartford Art School and Southern Connecticut State University, earning a B.A. in 1984. After graduating, he worked at the New Britain Museum of American Art. In 1991, Melzmuf moved to New York City, where he continues to paint and maintain a studio while working for art galleries. His dedication to art led him to a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2002. Melzmuf has participated in various art festivals, including Le Festival de Bargemon in Provence, France, in 2018 and 2019, and The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn in 2021. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art fairs in France, including Seillians and Rocquebrune-sur-Argens. His pieces are part of the Coupelozos Museum in Athens, Greece. Melzmuf's art has been shown in galleries across the United States, including Chicago, Philadelphia, New Haven, and Washington DC. His solo exhibitions in New York were held at 55 Mercer Gallery, Giacobetti Paul Gallery, 2/20 Gallery, and Industrious Brooklyn; in France, at the Galerie du Festival in Rocquebrune-sur-Argens. He has also participated in group shows in New York at Pace Gallery, Sideshow, Calico, and Barbara Greene Gallery; in France, at Beddington Fine Arts.
