Rashad Babayev is a multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker who belongs to a generation of Azerbaijani artists transforming the contemporary art landscape of Baku. His artistic style reflects an entrenched expressionist yet minimalist approach, utilizing different colors as his language. Rashad's debut solo exhibition was in 2004, and since then, he has participated in numerous international exhibitions across the globe, including the 55th Venice Biennale and at the Philips de Pury auction house. His works have been showcased in cities like Moscow, Rome, Vienna, Paris, and Berlin. Babayev’s artworks are part of the Museum of Modern Art in Baku and other private collections both locally and internationally. Expanding his artistic practice into filmmaking, his short films and feature film have participated in various international film festivals, including prestigious A category film festivals.
