The Artistic Journey of Piotr Antonow
Piotr Antonow is a Chicago area-based portrait artist born in Poland in 1965. He specializes in larger-scale portrait and figure paintings. Most of his portraits are paid commission work, although many of his figure paintings are available for sale. Piotr's approach to portraiture is unique in that he does not ask questions about his subjects' lives, personalities, likes, or dislikes. Instead, he simply observes, believing that the experiences people go through in life are recorded on their faces. Through prolonged observation during his painting process, he aims to discover these 'recordings' and translate them into the visual language of his art.
