The Artistic Journey of June McCall
June Kat McCall received her BA in studio art from Bennington College. Her artistic journey is deeply informed by her background in portrait photography, which influences her painted subject matter. June primarily focuses on loved ones and friends in varied restaurant settings, exploring unique and specific color palettes to reflect the personality of each subject. Her paintings are characterized by a slight impressionist stylization, preserving the nostalgic and emotional aspects of scenes linked to snapshot memories. June has always been interested in the practice of portraiture and its intrinsic challenge: how to accurately represent an entire, three-dimensional, and complex person within a single piece. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
