Douglas Newton was born in Washington, DC. He holds a BA in Economics from Stanford University and attended Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. After a successful career as an art director, Douglas transitioned to painting full-time. He specializes in contemporary still life, painting in oil on canvas and working directly from life without using photographs. Douglas resides and works in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY, alongside his wife, Kathleen Migliore Newton, who is also an artist. His dedication to realism and capturing the essence of still life subjects is evident in his meticulous approach to painting.
