Derek Des Islets lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife Linda and two children. His artistic journey is deeply personal, exploring themes of grief, addiction, and time, influenced by significant life events such as the sudden loss of his mother in 2015 and his grandfather's death in his arms two years later. These experiences have led him to untangle negative neural pathways and embrace a new freedom focused on love and family. Derek's art has been exhibited in numerous venues across New York, Florida, Virginia, and internationally in Paris and Hong Kong. His works are part of collections worldwide, including Italy. Derek describes his artistic practice as an uncensored vision from the mind and heart, capturing the essence of human emotion and experience.
