Lina Faroussi's art reflects her journey through life's constant transitions. Born in Latakia, Syria, as the fifth of nine children, she spent her early years by the Mediterranean Sea, forming a deep bond with her family. Her childhood was marked by her father's imprisonment and exile due to political conflict, laying the foundation for her art, which explores personal and collective narratives. After relocating to Athens, Greece, and Alexandria, Egypt, Faroussi pursued a bachelor's degree in commerce to fulfill family expectations but never abandoned her passion for art. She trained under professional artists and participated in exhibitions, even while working in marketing in Dubai. It was only after moving to Toronto in 2008 that she fully embraced her identity as an artist, studying at the Toronto School of Art and immersing herself in painting and mixed media. Over the years, Faroussi’s work has grown, entering the international art market with exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Her unique approach—layering texture and color to create deeply symbolic narratives—has earned her prestigious awards, including the International Caravaggio Prize in Milan and recognition as a top 60 Master by Art Tour International in New York City.
